A Bit About Me

​The Beginning

​

It started in a dream. Much like anything else. My whole life is like a dream. Every time I wake up, I have another book inside my head, and I just have to decide whether I am going to write that book or I am going to edit one of the hundreds of stories already in there. If I edit, that means I am going to let that book go for a time or permanently, and it is very difficult sometimes to choose what path to take. I mean today am I painting, am I editing or am I writing yet another book? This is my daily day on top of tending work and the house.

About 20 years ago, I started with Violet Eyes. And I couldn't find the beginning of it. Every single day I would have yet another piece of this puzzle, the multiverse. And on top of that, I would have tongue twisters and children's stories and dozens of other stories. And so, I just started writing like crazy when my daughter hit her teen years. And why has it taken so long to publish, I could not find the beginning.

Every time I presented it to somebody, they would have an issue with understanding this wild world that I just knew in an odd perfection, you know it was more than just a book. It was like this was my life. It's like I'm living this life again and I know these characters like friends, real people. Made a mistake once, I told a psychologist about needing help with my memory because my memory started slipping a little bit and it was making it hard to do my work. And that depressed me because I love working. I am a workaholic.

Even if I became famous, I don't think I could give up the work. No matter what I do, it's like, umm, whatever it happens to be I devote myself to its pursuit. That is what I am in at that moment, and I won't just give up because it would be easier.

I am 100% and I'm not 99.9%. I'm 100% if not more than 100%. So this is my day. Every single day I'm up with another story with another capacity or facet to one of the hundreds or yet a new one. And I have to figure out, does this belong to one of the other stories that I wrote already? Or is this even a brand-new story because I have so many series inside me. I really don't know where I'm going tomorrow but for certain I will spend some time dreaming. As my life is a collection of dreams, and I welcome you to explore them.

The Heart of the Stories

​

And people might question why the character you fall in love with is Ariarose. Well, she is me, sometimes better sometimes a little worse. Always going through something tough and you're going to be like, why is it always not an easy time for her. I don't always understand it myself. But I figure it's like this; to make the world better someone has to go through the mire. You can't get to a better world easy and that is what I always want.

I want to make the world better. So, me as Ariarose never has it easy, she might have gifts aplenty as hey why live a moment as just someone without something special in a fantasy, but just because you have skills and talents doesn't necessitate an easy life. And you will find that in every story; I mix genuine moments of my life with the fantasy worlds. Everything is a very real moment in these stories. It might have been a dream, but I dream extremely vividly. Every moment in these books I have lived in a way, and I hope in the end you're encouraged, strengthened, and feel a little bit better.

The Science Behind the Magic

​

Next someone will ask me about why many of the worlds are very much masculine dominant. Well it's more about genetics and what I think it takes to actually make magical species. Take the octopus. One of your most brilliant species in existence for adaptability. They call them magical in their ability to perform. The genomes of your octopi are considered to be over 50,000.

Imagine that 50,000. A human has 25,000 they claim. Now so if you have to have that many extra to get to something special with 2 strands. I took that and said Well then, my magical races have to have extra strands of DNA. I loved the series that said we had a few extra in sequence. Ha how would that work out in truth. It is really not enough. So now you take genetic disorders. XXX XXY XYY. Of those combos only one is a girl. Interesting right.

Now so the complex truth is to get magical races with just something more than octopi you get 4 strands minimum. I'm talking Octopi strands not human strands... so guess what happens to your ability to survive it. Reduced by far, we are talking in just a few generations you have extinction. The more magical and ethereal we reduce it even more. So guess what natural Masculinity. Now someone is going to say, "You are anti-feminism."

Absolutely not, I find that women are strong, and they don't need to prove it so much anymore. Other women I know will say it's tough being a woman. Did I say it was easy? But it's also tough being a man. Men need as much encouragement as women. I have a son and I want him to have good role models. I have daughters I want them to have good role models.

The Real Message

My books have strong women and strong men. I make it real on how these societies would function. We all want a little bit of magic. Be careful sometimes what you wish for. But honestly, there is nothing wrong with being just a gentle woman folks. It takes courage to trust someone. Man or woman, it takes courage to say I can't do everything myself.

And what I want everyone to realize is that it is genuinely okay to need help. I work with people in some seriously troubling situations in everyday life. They have to ask someone for help to make another go at life. No matter how strong you are, no matter how much you make, no matter if you think you can do it all yourself. No body truly can. We all need someone to tell our troubles to. Someone to listen to us when that day sucks and when you're down to your last chips someone pitching in. Someone who is rich most likely has a passel of employees. Oh, it might look like they have it easy, but all those people that depend on them for a paycheck are doing something they can't do themselves.

And so, Ariarose, the character most everyone loves hey some will hate her just saying it's true, but hey that character goes through a lot of mire. And it took me a long time to understand it, sometimes I struggle with why my dreams take me there, but I figure I can do a lot of healing this way. Now that makes me willing to face my dreams. I have died in my dreams many times. I can honestly say dying in your dreams will not kill you. Give a real bad sleep yes, but kill you no.

The Creative Journey

Now why don't you have more books. I can honestly say that it's like I am fighting two forces in the universe. I cannot tell you how many versions of Violet Eyes I have created and recreated. There have been thefts of manuscripts, wiped out hard drives of every copy. Sudden deletion by word not saving all of the book. I tell you it's been a real struggle. I have edited Merlin 10 times.

Yes, I do use AI to edit. I devote myself to making sure every word in these books is worth the read. I ask it to check for run-ons, find places that need more description, but the AI editor could never create the moments for me.

Nah, it loves the word crystalline. I sometimes ask it to sort of build a base of sensory details.  And it just loves adding I said this with that... oh and then I'm like Identify all the lazy passages and we go top down and I rework it until even my fixes are corrected or that I said with this moment is the right call. You can't make every moment flowery. If every moment is flowery then we have a ton of empty prose.

Now sometimes I find these deletions is actually the universe telling me I missed something. I actually added characters to Merlin. People that I realized were there and had to be there. Like Crimp. Now when you read of Crimp's place in that world, you'll be like thank you Universe or I hope so. Crimp is such an amazing guy. Not a big role Crimp, but you know sometimes the person with just a few lines to say or add, is exactly why I had to go back again.

And yes, I am exhausted and that is okay. I'll continue being exhausted and need a nap... ha nap... that is the universe way of adding in a bonus tidbit...oh like Crimp maybe. HA HA. Ah Crimp...he's such an unusual character. But no spoilers. That would totally ruin why you find Crimp cool.
