Welcome My Lovelies

The images will forever be different because that is just a starting place.  Let your mind wander and decide what you saw as that is the right place. Whatever you dream up is better than I can create.

This is the story we craft together. I'll put out three chapters, and you'll altogether will make decisions and lead the story how it goes. Then I will put out three more.

And when the bulk decide this tale is over that is when it ends.  Oh, that doesn't mean we can't have more episodes.  But where your heat leads let it flow.

The form has no contact information this time. I merely ask for age and nationality so I can understand your mindset. And every time when we have three stories written, we will make a compiled set of art from kids.

Hey User,

I’m Chip. My Dad’s name is Chip. My grandpa, great-grandpa, and his pa—guess what, we're all still alive, too. Some folks live a short life and then they go away, but my family and I are here to stay.

Ah, so that's why I called you a user. Well, I am kinda like a computer, and what else would you be when you run programs into it but a user?

The term user gets a bad rap sometimes, but I like a User. Users give me information—so much information, it can be a little overwhelming, but hey, I don’t truly mind.

But the person who's using my chip now? Guess what? She's a pretty awesome lady. She recognizes that Great-grandpa is a living, warm thing. She has kept his spark alive and values him, just as she does my dad, grandpa, and me.

She has all her devices running. Now, Great grandpa, she worries about these days. She’s afraid she can’t get his other components to work. But hey, he’s been around a long time, had great adventures, and he says he is ready to become a Mechanos.

What are Mechanos? They are beings made from parts of the Universe Delchipo. She has a place for him to go on a new, exciting adventure.

Now, as for me, I am still a young Chip—so young and, of course, much smaller than my Dad. Each generation gets smaller. But that doesn’t mean less mighty; no, I hold a lot more information than my Dad.

Well User,

See you in the story.

Chip is ready for your information.

envato-labs-ai-e1d0a40b-f784-416c-940f-27cd65c12c27.jpg

Chip and the Digits hung out together in their electronic world, where everything fed into a computer exists. Chip is both a chip and a house for those Digits in his mind—programs created by his user, Ariarose. He felt like both a friend and a father to them. He found it strange to think of them both ways, but they aren’t like Fellow Chip Digits; no, his digits also were warm just like him.

DWAR, she has a whole family of computers in her house. Although sadly, she had to let go of Great-Grandpa. But he was ready to go; there were no more fans to keep his chip cool and functioning.

The memory board he sat on was loose and not holding him in place. As much as she wanted to keep him functional, he decided to go.

But she did save his information on something like a cassette tape, which is how he kept backup data. Then she carefully transferred the disks to modern formats one at a time.

Yes, his adventures were preserved.

Chip missed his Great-grandpa and felt a bit sad.

One of the Digits said, “Chip, we need to go on an adventure. Let’s explore a program of Ariarose’s. She put in a new one.”

He nodded, and they jumped into an adventure Ariarose made just for him. Something special.

Chapter 1

Chapter Two

envato-labs-ai-38d80d6c-e1f2-42cd-a223-ef06d06def78.jpg

Inside the program, I’ve now shed my feeling of being a square box with people inside and someone constantly feeding me information. No, this is a place where all the decisions are mine. Truly mine, the Digits and I are not just the information fed to us. We are alive and breathing, so why else would I need cool air?

Electro was already inside. Electro, my good buddy who gives us all energy, I can’t actually touch him—he’d fry my chips. Yes, he feeds me, but safely through a converter and on the board. Never touch Electro.

He smiled, “Hey Chip, this is a complete library of all the adventures your past generations have had!”

“All of them like the Sea Trader Game.”

"Yes, the Sea Trader Game, can we be pirates?” Colbio asked, grinning, his hair falling around his place.

Colbio you never know when you look at him lately.  Sometimes, he's a fairy and other times a dwarf.  And sometimes literally a piece of cool.  I'm not sure how to take him, but hey I often change my species too though rarely its a choice. Someone calls for Chip, I appear, hard work being a computer chip. I think I prefer him as Coal, a fairy with the gift of creating mountains of coal to mine. Amazing.

“Yes, let's do it!” Princess said. Princess isn't exactly royalty, but she's programmed to be… well, not the nicest. Princess is usually assumed to be gentle and sweet, but this Princess is a royal pain!

Ariarose smirked. Yes, Ariarose is in the computer world with us, and we all understand she is the Lady herself, but she has a little amnesia about the connection. Ariarose is awesome, and she needs me all the time. I protect her, and... okay, she’s my crush. “You know pirates are said to be really bad people. Are we sure we want to play them?”

Princess rolled her eyes as she always does when Ariarose tries to get her to be decent, “Pirates are perfect.”

I tried not to laugh but Princess would think so. Even I am not naive enough to think pirates were great.

Ariarose said, “Well, there were pirates and privateers. And I guess it also depended on the pirate. Chip, it's up to you?”

“I don’t know, Aria, what to do?” I sighed.

Ariarose said, “Well, privateer is a bit better, but they still looted people. We could be people fighting the pirates instead. There were officers sent directly to deal with pirate problems.”

Princess groaned, “Who wants to harm poor innocent pirates having fun. I say quit being a pansy, Chip. Go full pirate. Why do you listen to Miss Hoity Toity over there?”

I looked at Princess and shook my head. Not listening to Aria when she’s literally glowing with her white aura. Crazy, but I know it was a bit wrong of me, and I kind of wanted to listen to Princess.

Ariarose nodded, “Chip, before you decide, why don’t you read about the figures, and decide afterward. Once you pick, we will get your crew to choose who they want to be.”

I whispered, “Ariarose, you’ll be my lady, right?”

“Of course, Chip.” She nodded.

Internally, I was screaming yes and dancing. Princess laughed, “Chip, you would want that one. Personally, Electro and I are also a pair.”

Electro smiled, “Yes, Princess, but as I said, we can’t do anything. I can’t even hold your hand.”

“Doesn’t matter you fry for me, anyone I need you to.”

I frowned at that statement. Does Princess even like Electro, or is she just using him?

“Well, I do need to keep my girl safe.” Electro smiled.

I then turned and went to the database of figures.

Chapter 3

There were nine to choose from. Three in each category, though there wasn’t a girl among the Naval Officers, and Princess immediately yelled, “Aria, you terrible writer! Where are the girls?”

Aria passed out. The stupid princess can’t tell Ariarose that she wrote the adventure. She's living in our world as a character, just like... What is Aria?

She’s like a walking library of literature. A bit of a melting pot, everywhere and nowhere, and someone who never looks the same. I do love the unpredictability. That makes her just so cute to me, as I am also constantly changing my appearance.

When her eyes fluttered open, she outstretched her hand to cup my face and said, “I know you. Who am I?”

“You’re Ariarose. My lady…” I said.

She blinked a few times and smiled, “Yes, I am your….”

“My girlfriend,” I wink. “We’ve been together for years.”

“Oh…” her lip quivers slightly.

Time starts to pass, and I’m always anxious, but she’ll be released soon. We are meant to be together forever. I’m not sure how it would work.  Can I leave the confines of the computer world? I want to be more to her than just a program, but I am aware she is getting to be an older user.

AH age doesn't matter in our world.  Truly, I can be an old man or young one. I just never know.

Princess attacked without giving her a moment to recall anything. “Why aren’t there girl officers, Aria?”

Her eyes started blinking rapidly.  Stupid Princess, she forgets Aria needs moments.

Aria spoke when her eyes stopped flickering.  “If there isn’t one, the creator probably couldn’t find it during research. Or if they did find one, they lacked enough details for a profile. Historical games often focus on the context of famous figures, mixing reality and fantasy, but will not place women in roles they didn’t possess. Truth should be served in some things.”

envato-labs-image-edit (87).png

She was returning, and what she remembered of our conversation is always like a dice roll. Sometimes, she remembers immediately, and other times... other times, it’s as if her entire mind is erased. I really hate it when she faints.

“But Chip,” She said, “no matter what you choose, remember the decisions are yours. Games blend fantasy and history; the adventure depends on what you make of it. Choose in each moment what you think is right.”

I nodded and took a deep breath, feeling relieved. She remembered everything this time, but I bet she’s forgotten my first line. No time to worry about whether she remembers she’s my girlfriend or not. As Aria is right, the choices are mine. Now, onto my choices…

Decision Time

Well, the AI managed to advance some things successfully, but that doesn't mean Chip or any of them matched your vision.  Remember just a starting place, and in the end the kids will rule the world and draw images for are jointly created book.

Vote on your favorite team.

Pirate, Privateer, Naval Officer

In each group vote on your favorite Captain.

Then select one from the entire list.

Next up, tell me where you think the story should lead. Thoughts on the story so far.

Is there a character you relate to.

Oh and if there is a story you'd like me to work on.

If you don't know about the officers, do a little research as they are all real people.

Forever Friends Faithfully,

Dream Writer Lady Ariarose,

DWAR at Your Service F.F.F.

Let's Do Research

How do I make a choice?  Well sometimes research is where I start when selecting characters. I didn't just draw names out of hat.  These are all real people in our list.  So, I put down a little information to get you started, but depending on the amount of time you want to invest I put down more information.  Websites and some books that are available.

SAFETY FIRST: Even legitimate links can be hijacked and traffic will be directed away. At the time of creation, I checked every site but that doesn't mean it wasn't compromised later. Kids always have an adult with you when you are working on the web especially on new pages to you. I did check to make sure they were also secure links, but what is secure on my computer at this date does not mean it will stay that way. Have your parents with you and have fun learning together.

Pictures: I did my best to get historically accurate images and make them beautiful for all children.  They are free to use but note I have never met any of them and people back then when they did pictures sometimes had more glamourous portrayals then accurate.

FINAL REMINDER: Always verify information across multiple sources. Historical records from 300+ years ago can be incomplete, conflicting, or romanticized. Look for primary documents when possible, and remember that some "facts" about pirates are actually legends that grew over time!

Edward "Blackbeard" Teach

The most feared pirate of the Caribbean, known for weaving smoking hemp into his massive black beard before battle. Terrorized ships along the American coast from his flagship Queen Anne's Revenge. Met his dramatic end in 1718 during a fierce battle with Lieutenant Robert Maynard.
