Hey Wild Raccoon

Hey wild raccoon living in the city — what do you think, should we sing a ditty?

Yes we should sing, though my song is like a purr.

It makes my fur rise up and down, but I'm so glad you are around.

I understand the pet food I set out is part of your diet.

And I thank you, as we don't really want a trash can diet.

Hey wild raccoon living in the city — what do you think, should we sing a ditty?

Why yes oh yes we should.

I've just become a father — you should see my wife in the den. Soon oh soon my cubs will see.

They are born blind, I understand.

Yes, blind, but with time they open them and begin to see the land.

Kids arrive also with their eyes closed but given time they open, and in them you can see a beautiful soul.

Hey wild raccoon living in the city — what do you think, should we sing a ditty?

Why yes, yes we should — the pups have woken up at last.

They have moved and scavenged and look so cute.

And I can see they are gorgeous. They have five fingers much like ours, though different.

We can celebrate these things — both our similarities and differences.

Yes we can, as we don't have to be the same. We can live in the city together celebrating both how different and alike we are.

Differences are the spice that gives the world its flavor. I am glad we are similar yet different.
